Paleo Pals: Jimmy and the Carrot Rocket Ship

My latest labor of love, Paleo Pals: Jimmy and the Carrot Rocket Ship is now off to print with a release date of February 14th!  I had so much fun writing this book and it was truly a family driven project with Jaden and Rowan patiently listening over and over again as  the story developed.  My little ones were always eager to give their important and wise feedback that only an 8 and 4 year old can give, while my oldest son Coby and my husband John were instrumental with the development of this book.  Thank you so much to my awesome little family for your undying support of my never ending ideas…

Now, check out this video that will give you a sneak peak of the Paleo Pals!!

You can now pre-order Paleo Pals from Amazon or Barnes & Noble and I’m also super excited to announce that I most likely will be going on a book tour during the release week of the Paleo Pals!  Exact dates and locations will be announced as I find out more details.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support and my hope is that the Paleo Pals will be the superheros that your family has been hoping for.

This is awesome coming from a bachelor with no kids. But I wish I had this as a way to learn about nutrition as a kid. Congrads, Sarah.

  2. Kids and parents are gonna love this!

  3. Sarah,
I can totally identify with wanting a road map to help ease the transition while trying to go paleo with the kids. My husband and I were converted and feeling awesome, but were too afraid to go there with the kids. We bit the bullet hoping that it would improve some behavoir issues we’re having and I am so glad I did. I can’t say it “fixed” any other issues as that will always be a work in progress, but the satisfaction of knowing that I am feeding them the best food possible gives me a warm and tingly feeling. I can’t wait to check out your book and I am sure there are thousands of parents that will appreciate it. Maybe it will give them the confidence to make the switch. Thanks for your blog and cookbook! It really has helped ease the transition for our family. We’ve got the eating down, now onto exercise in 2012. 🙂 Happy New Year!

Hi Sarah! This is great! My kids (age 11 & 15, both girls) may be too old for a story book, but the concept is exciting. I’m guessing the audience is families with younger children? I’m always looking for ways to communicate Paleo as a healthy lifestyle with long term benefits, not a diet.

Right now, for us, it’s lunch that is stumping us. My oldest wants to be healthy but she also isn’t one to do something different. Thus she struggles at lunch with her friends. My goal for 2012 is to show her ways to have an easy, non-messy, non-weird lunch but doesn’t make her feel to out of sorts with her grain loving friends. Which, more importantly, means I’m always looking for ways to encourage her to get over what other people think! Maybe a story book is just what we need! :o)

I think even the older kids will like the book – although yes it’s geared towards younger kiddos, it still has a lot to offer for anyone! Did you have your daughter read my oldest son’s post that he wrote recently, that might help your kiddos as well! http://everydaypaleo.com/2011/12/15/my-teenagers-perspective-on-paleo-guest-blog-by-coby-fragoso/

  6. Keep us posted on the tour, hope you make it down to the Bay Area!

Congrats Sarah! This is really exciting. I can’t help but remember how much I loved your mother’s children’s books when I was growing up. I am sure she’d be so very proud of you!

I am so proud of all your hard work. I can’t believe everything you’ve done in such a small amount of time. Paleo Pal’s kicks @ss! I will definitely be reading this to my little ones, when that time comes. Thank you for making this ….and all you’ve done! You’re truly amazing!

  9. We are just making the switch, so this is right on time for us! I am looking forward to reading it.

  10. Hi Sarah!

Well done! I am using this as a reference to many of the mother’s in my CSA who are afraid to lead their children to a paleo lifestyle because they are afraid the kids will be shunned by all their friends. We lost our daughter Meenakshi to cancer in 2009 when she was 4. She was diagnosed in 2007 after which we were on a terrible roller coaster while I was also pregnant with our 3rd child. My husband and I discovered what was basically the Whole 30 because of the amazing care we received by an amazing local chiropractor who is also an applied kinesiologist. He literally saved my life the first time by keeping my family healthy and moving and not falling into a deep depression hole. After 2 years of following his instruction on food and supplements, we discovered crossfit. Within a week of that I found your recipe book. In 2009 I created a 3rd party CSA here in Raleigh because we experienced the power of real food during our battle with Meenakshi. Our real food diet prior to meeting Dr. Schmitt incorporated all local meats and veggies and we ate nothing that we couldn’t source by looking the producer in the eyes- so no bar code food. Within 6 months of this extreme diet change in 2008 we arrested Meenakshi’s solid mass tumor when Duke Children’s Hospital could not. Within 6 more months we converted it into a cyst when Duke could not. The 5 rounds of chemo that she did receive initially in 2007 eventually brought on A LOT MORE CANCER which eventually took her life in 2009, but not before we established our medical proof that REAL FOOD was REAL MEDICINE. We had been living in such a dark place after losing her and still eating basically paleo but with no recipes or other people who understood what we were doing. Everyone in our community thought we went crazy including our immediate families. They still find our diet and lifestyle to be extreme. We are so blessed now however to have found our BOX! And it is filled with a ton of folks who understand what we are doing and now we have your books as resources also! WOO HOO!! Thank you for your work. I can’t wait to get this book for our kids this Christmas and help them see what they can also be PALEO PALS for other children in our community!

    YOU ROCK!
    Niti

    1. Sarah says:

Thank you Niti. I really want to meet you and hug you with the hope that you could pass on even a little bit of your amazing spirit and strength to me. Thank you so much for telling me your story and for sharing such awesome words of love and encouragement. You are an incredible person, woman, and mommy. To suffer a loss like you did and to come through thriving is NOT a common occurrence. I don’t know if I could be even as half as strong as you are; you are ALL truly inspirational. Much love to you and your family.
      Sarah
