I wanted to share a few pictures of our outing to a local community parade that we attended last Saturday. Coby, my oldest, plays the trombone in his high school marching band and we went out to watch, support, and cheer them on! We came armed with trail mix, mandarins, and beef jerky and my husband asked the local hot dog vendor for bunless dogs for the boys and he promptly served them on a stick! Not the most quality of food but it was a parade, and they are kids, and this was a total novelty for them and a lot of fun.
The crazy thing that I never took notice to before about a parade is the HOARDS of candy that is thrown at the spectators by some of the participants. Jaden and Rowan had fun making a giant pile of candy behind our chairs and we proceeded to watch in awe as people of ALL ages scurried to collect our donated pile.
Coby ROCKED his trombone and the band was honestly the best part of the whole parade, and I’m not just saying that, they really are an amazingly talented bunch of kids.
Enjoy the pics and I’ll be back to post another recipe soon! I apologize for my lack of response to all of your comments, I’m currently trying to restructure my life so that I can dedicate time specifically to running this blog instead of my usual sporadic moments of trying to keep up. My previous strategy simply is not working so well anymore, so please don’t feel ignored, I’ll get caught up soon I promise – keep the comments coming, I’m still here, just a little bit buried at the moment!
Enjoy!

I love Chico!! I miss it so much!!
I love Chico too… : )
Sarah
I’m loving the new book. I enjoy the blog, seeing how you fit Paleo into your daily life.
My goal with the new book is to try one new recipe per week. This week was the Pecan crusted chicken – very good. I also mentioned your book to my doctor.
Was curious if Plantains are ok on Paleo?
Thanks, hope you get things structured. I know how difficult that can be.
Linda
Plantains are ok as long as YOU are ok with them! : ) If you are wanting to make some body composition changes I wouldn’t recommend eating plantains everyday as a staple food item but they are a great chip alternative, awesome for kids, and taste amazing dipped in guacamole! So glad you like the book!
While I am sad when you don’t post, I hope more than anything that you are making time for your family and self….. thats one of the main reasons you wrote the book, to show us all how to live a better life. If you let us burn you out then we really won’t have anything will we? I love your book!!!! I love your blog and am so much more successful because of your guidance. You have given us a gift of your time and I personally feel you are at your best when you don’t feel guilty about not having time for the blog. Breath. In a nutshell “Thanks”.
Thanks so much for your awesome comment Rochelle, this is exactly what I needed to hear right now. : )
I couldn’t agree more with Rochelle! Thanks for all you do for us, you are an inspiration and have helped me more than you will ever know!
I too am loving the new book. Just made Better Butter Chicken….and Oh my god…..I LOVE IT!! I have a feeling this will become a staple in my house! Thank you for all the wonderful recipes you give us and for sharing your life with all of us. You rock!
dear sarah,
just wanted to say that i love your book! i have just started reading and am so excited to start this new way of life! i have a question, and i hope that this isn’t the 1st time you’ve been asked this…i am allergic to eggs. 🙁 i feel like that is going to limit me on this new way of eating. how do you feel about that? any advice or tips? alot of the breakfast ideas are planned around eggs. what do you feel would be the best thing to substitute for the eggs?
thanks in advance for your ideas and comments! “)
Steph:
I’m not Sarah but I did want to chime in on your request for breakfast ideas. For me the big thing was getting over the idea of what were “breakfast foods” and realizing that Break Fast was just whatever you ate as your first meal of the day. I often eat cubes of fatty meat or sausages for breakfast, or a dish of chicken or salmon salad. As long as I get protein and fat I’m good to go in the morning. Even a handful of nuts will work.
thanks so much nancy, this makes a lot of sense to me. 🙂 i soooo appreciate your tips! anyone else with any tips, advice or comments, please feel free to leave me a msg!
I LOVE your book and blog and can’t wait to learn more when you come to Clackamas, OR! I have been making new recipes from you everyday! I think I am getting a bit obsessed, but I haven’t been this excited since I started eating paleo one year ago. Thanks for everything! Also, please take care of yourself and your family first. Everything will fall into place from there. It’s never a good thing to make unnecessary expectations for yourself. Anyone that follows your blog and the paleo way will understand if you can’t respond to every post or make new posts everyday.
Hey, Love the pictures and how your family is able to live a Paleo life. I am enjoying getting out and doing more things with the family. I just got your book and my wife really likes as well. Keep fire going..
Got the cookbook Sarah and we are loving it! We cooked about seven different things from it just this week! My kiddos devoured the brussel sprouts! That was a first for them and my hubby is 3lbs from his goal weight!
🙂 Coral
I feel like I might be sounding like a broken record so I hope you aren’t tired of hearing:
I LOVE YOUR BOOK!
I will admit that I cried when I read your acknowledgement section, so genuine, heart-felt and beautifully written. I’m an elementary school teacher with a MSc in Biochem… I fully understand why Paleo is amazing, and feel my best when I’m eating “clean”, but I continue to struggle with the mental addiction to crappy carbs. Reading your chapters on the Mental Aspects when implementing paleo really spoke to me and have increased my motivation to stop sucking and fight the carb crack once and for all!
